The power of words is underestimated.
Words can heal or hurt, encourage or belittle, support or destroy. Words are what create us and whether they are spoken aloud or exist as thoughts, they are undeniably the most important tools we have to change our lives.
Words are used to categorize, to judge things so we can put them into boxes and file them in the manner that allows us to go about our business. They are used to provide a sense of security, of knowing and declaring that something is a certain way.
They are what we use to represent the truth, but they are not the essence of the truth. They are signposts, but not the reality itself.
Still, they are all we have so we need to use them wisely.
Thoughts are the words that exist within your own mind. Thoughts are so powerful that they can torture someone to the point where they take their own life in an attempt to escape. Never dismiss words as unimportant.
All of this is a reminder to learn to become aware of your thoughts and the words you speak both to yourself and to others. Allowing yourself to use words that could be injurious is not the proper use of the mind.
This is where presence comes in. Becoming acutely aware of the present moment allows you to monitor and control your thoughts. Most people think they have no control over what they think. They lack the discipline that comes with self-awareness.
Bliss is found in non-thinking. Serenity and peace dwell in the realms of release of the chronic thinking that plagues our lives.
This is important. Learn to control the thoughts you think and you can change your life in an instant.
