No words can truly capture the beauty that is in every sunrise

“Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these, ‘It might have been.”
― John Greenleaf Whittier

“The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter. ’tis the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.”
― Mark Twain

Words and the way we communicate is so important. With Mercury in retrograde now and the way it can affect communication, it’s always a good time to remember that words are things and what you say has consequences whether in your own life or someone else’s. Words are powerful and can be the difference between living the life you want or the one you settle for. Take no utterance for granted for in every word lies the seed of creation itself.

Weak words don’t inspire anyone to do anything. There is a reason that larger than life figures like Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, Buddha, Jesus, and Shakespeare will be remembered forever – they all understood the power of words. Take a moment today to pay attention to the way you talk to yourself and see if the words you choose are helpful or hateful. Become more conscious of what comes out of your mouth and always choose to be kind. The biggest events in history can usually be remembered by the words of the time.

Hungry Plants – It’s amazing how many different species of life exist on this planet, and the Venus flytrap is certainly one of them. A group of researchers at the University of Freiburg were able to virtually capture how the lobes of the plant move and are able to snap together, capturing bugs inside. Read more here if you are interested in what they found out. A snippet from Science Daily: “Only well-watered traps are able to snap shut quickly and correctly by releasing this prestress. Watering the plant changed the pressure in the cells and with it the behavior of the tissue. In order to close correctly, the traps also had to consist of three layers of tissue: an inner which constricts, an outer which expands, and a neutral middle layer.”

The world is truly full of miraculous things.

Thought for Friday – When everyone around you is feeling blue, do what you need to do to raise your own vibration. Relying on others to make you feel happy can be disappointing, so get out and enjoy what nature has to offer. Most likely the sun, moon, stars and birds will be in a good mood. Have a wonderful day.

“Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind.”
― Rudyard Kipling

The Power of the Word

It’s like a big pen coming out of the sky, writing words that can change everything in an instant

Language is a fascinating creation. So much of what we say has hidden meanings or innuendos that we don’t pay attention to but that can shape our existence in ways we don’t fully appreciate.

A lot of it is almost a form of sorcery.

We go to school to learn to spell. The verb spell means to write or name letters in a correct sequence to form a word. It can also mean to forecast something bad; for instance, the new government could spell disaster to the economy.

The noun form of spell means using words to invoke a magical charm or incantation. Interesting, yes?

Righteous Indignation

Sometimes the road of life isn’t easy to navigate. Appreciate the beauty of Costa Rica

It’s a sensitive world we live in. Everything we say and do is scrutinized; what was once considered harmless fun is now grounds for lawsuits, dismissal at work, or public scorn.

The advance of social media in the last few years has expedited this process to where things that were once in a small sphere can become worldwide within minutes.

If you offend someone, there is going to be a court of public opinion ready to persecute you to the full extent of opinionated law.

Much of it is exposing long-held prejudices that need to see the light of day. Any belittling of someone based on race, gender, or physical limitations is a mistake. It is wrong.

Saying the Words

Microphones amplify the sound of the words. Maybe it is because I have spent so much of my life doing this that I am very aware of what I say out loud. -Photo Credit: MrWillWong.com

I always marvel at the power of words. Never underestimate how what you think and say can change your life in an instant.

The word can be used to support or to destroy. It can help or harm, add beauty or ugliness, and inspire or belittle.

Words can be weapons of war or motivators of peace. The spoken word is as powerful a tool we have to design our world.

The words we say only to ourselves determine the quality of our life experience.

Whenever I have had big words to say, like the ones that lead to a relationship ending or leaving a job, I find that I rehearse them many times in my mind before ever speaking them aloud.

Finding Strength Through Words

How many storms has this tree weathered? The strength and power of nature is wordless. Love the orb!

Winners win and losers lose. It seems like a harsh statement, but it is a truth.

People who expect to win do. They have an inner strength of conviction that makes failure quite impossible.

Now winning doesn’t have to mean being rich, or living in a fancy house and driving one of your ten fancy cars. Winning is something very personal that only you can define.

In fact, many people who have accumulated physical riches are unhappy and unfulfilled. They pursued the external wealth with no regard for cultivating the inner riches.

They are literally poor on the inside.

Words

No words necessary. I took this photo while jogging one morning. Nature is breathtaking

The power of words is underestimated.

Words can heal or hurt, encourage or belittle, support or destroy. Words are what create us and whether they are spoken aloud or exist as thoughts, they are undeniably the most important tools we have to change our lives.
