A new year, a new decade, and new opportunities. Whatever you wish your life to look like in the future, it all begins with an idea to do something now.
An idea followed by a plan and then action are the three steps that can take you wherever you wish to go. One decision in one moment can change the course of your life forever.
I had an idea and now this is the result of that idea. These pages have been a source of inspiration for me and, I hope, for you as well.
Now it’s time for something new. I need to do what I enjoy, and that happens to be betting on things. Not just things, but specifically horses and football. It has been a long process of acceptance to realize that this is what I want to do.
It hasn’t mattered what I have done in life, whether it was traveling, living and working in a resort in Mexico, managing a restaurant, training horses, or writing. My passion has always been finding value and investing when the odds and the situation are right.
I don’t call it gambling, although others might. To me, gambling is what you do when you go to Vegas and play roulette or craps, where the house has the odds always tipped in its favour. You can get lucky and win for a while, but sit there long enough and the house advantage will eventually have its way with you.
I consider what I do to be investing, more like playing the stock market. With gambling you have an expectation that you could lose money. With investing, the expectation is that you will make it.
It doesn’t really matter what you call it though, it just is what it is. I have no problem telling people that I bet on horses and sports. Most of them find it interesting, perhaps a little crazy though! It’s just one of several things that I do, but it is the one thing I am focusing on the most.
So with that in mind, and because I enjoy writing about possibilities and living your best life, I offer the insights of the betting side of me to you. It’s amazing to me how much the lessons I learn about betting also apply to life.
I’m not here to encourage anyone to do what I do. It works for me but it isn’t for everyone.
It’s actually a tough way to make what some people think is an easy living.
Betting is both challenging and unpredictable, and I think as you follow me through the ups and downs there will be something interesting to learn about many things. Staying healthy, dealing with stress, losing streaks, overconfidence, under-confidence, and every emotional state in between are all a part of it.
No two days are the same in this lifestyle, and that is what appeals to me the most.
Each day is a life unto itself. There is never a dull moment.
I have learned a great deal about myself as I decided to make this my focus. I am now ready to share the experiences with you.
Strap yourself in and get ready – it’s going to be anything but a smooth ride!
