I think about what it’s like for people who become so distraught, so discouraged with life that they decide they no longer want to live. What a lonely, sad place that must be.
To get to a state where there seems to be only one way out is a complete breakdown of faith in yourself and in the process of life. We are the only species that is able to use our minds in such a destructive manner.
But if you have reached a state where you have lost the ability to see anything good on the horizon, you have reached the place where a monumental shift can take place.
If you have nothing to live for, then you have nothing to lose. And if you have nothing to lose, then you have every chance to become someone new.
When it gets to such a bleak stage, then the persona you have assumed is not working for you. Just as that identity was formed by outside influences and the environment, a new one can be formed through deliberate choice.
Death of the physical is not necessary, but death of who you were is entirely possible and could be the liberation from suffering that you need.
There are no accidents in this life. Everything around you functions in perfect harmony, from the way the earth revolves to allow life to continue as it does to the activity of the sun and all of the planets around us.
How can anything be a mistake when it is all so perfectly orchestrated, so awe-inspiring?
Accept that everything is a miracle, including the fact that you are here. You came from somewhere, and eventually you will go back to wherever that was. What you do in the meantime is entirely up to you.
If the choices you have made so far don’t inspire you or fill you with bliss, then you have made some incorrect choices. You did what you felt was right at the time, but it has proven not to be what you wanted.
Change those choices now. What is past is over; what is to come, none of us knows. Right now you can take complete control over your experience and design it into something of your choosing.
You don’t need to feel like a victim. The only one who is persecuting you for any mistakes you have made is you.
Step outside of the limited persona and see how magnificent everything is. Know that by being here, that is enough of a reason for you to thrive. You did not come here to be limited and small, but to use your special skills to soar as high as the clouds.
Create, appreciate, feel gratitude, and marvel at the perfection of this existence. Take nothing for granted. You are here to share with the world, and not to do so is a shame. Your contribution to the evolution of life would be missed.
When you hit rock bottom there is no better opportunity to completely change your entire existence. Like a snake shedding its skin, you can seize the opportunity to become an entirely new you.
Trees grow on the sides of mountains, stubbornly breaking through the rock and with a strong will to live, they succeed in growing in less than ideal surroundings. Weeds grow through concrete sidewalks, impervious to the fact that it is too difficult to do so.
Never underestimate the will of life.
You are here to live, and you get to choose what that looks like. Don’t ever give that power away to anything outside of you.
The purpose of life is to live. That is all. By waking up today you have already achieved something incredible.
What you do now is up to you.
