You Owe It to the World to Try

Something about a beautiful sunrise is so inspiring to me

When you feel powerless, you are denying yourself the chance to shine.

When you feel beat-down, taken advantage of, and defeated it is difficult to find the strength to move forward.

Leave the self-judgment behind for a moment. Know that you deserve more than what you have.

We are all special. There is something we are all good at, a unique talent for us to share with the world. If you don’t allow yourself to discover it, or to share it, then you are depriving the world of a gift that is needed.

Passion for something is what we need to discover. Find your passion and then figure out a way to make a living doing it. Love what you do and you will never work a day in your life.

Trite statements, yes, but they are true. The essence of the message is clear – do what you enjoy and you will prosper.

What do you do that makes you feel light inside? What activities do you perform where time has no meaning, where hours can pass without you thinking about anything other than what you are doing?

Some people wait until they retire to finally allow themselves to pursue what they always dreamed of doing. Others work closely to their dream, perhaps as an editor when they always wanted to be a writer, or as a line cook when they dream of being a chef in their own restaurant.

We don’t have to wait until we are retired. We can pivot everything we do right now and begin to focus on why we are truly here.

If you are a writer, then write. If you are a painter, then paint. If you are a computer programmer, then identify a common problem and code a solution for it. Play around with it and have fun.

There is no dream that you have that cannot become a career. Inherent in desiring something comes the ability to fulfill that wish.

Come up with reasons why it will work. Human nature often dictates that we go about it in the opposite manner. We come up with an idea, get a little excited about it, and then instantly think of about a hundred reasons why it won’t work.

We are very good at identifying the challenges, so good in fact that often we are able to talk ourselves out of even trying.

Drastic events happen in life as a way to shake up the routine that holds us prisoner. An illness makes you completely refocus on what is important. Losing a job or a spouse forces you to function in an entirely new way.

These major life challenges are often blessings in disguise.

There is something you are here to do. The contribution you have to offer is important to the world.

Don’t deprive yourself or anyone else of what is inside you. If you are living in a state of boredom, it is time to admit that you aren’t following your passion.

People can be confused as to what their passion is. Deep down you know what it is. Now you need to know that it can become a way of life.

Limiting the full expression of who you are is selfish. Allowing others to determine who you are meant to be is ludicrous.

Well-meaning people around us will offer us their opinions as to what we should do or who we should be. They do so through their own filters, their own beliefs.

They are not you. Only you are aware of what you are here to do.

Figure it out. Make a list of what makes you happy, which activities you enjoy and that you are good at. There should be at least a few.

Find the one thing that makes you feel a little excited inside. Then find ten reasons why you can do it. Think of zero reasons why you can’t.

Do some research. If even one person in the world is doing something similar, then it is possible for you. If no one else is doing it, then you can be a trailblazer and become an example of possibility for others.

There is no better moment than right now to become who you truly are.
