What is intuition anyways? It is recognizing and allowing your true voice to be heard, and then acting on it. We all have it, it’s just sometimes the outside world is too loud for us to hear what’s going on inside.
When it comes to feeling your best, listening to your inner voice is the most important thing to do. No two of us are alike. To allow others to tell you how you should feel and what you should do just doesn’t make sense.
You’re the best judge when it comes to deciding what makes you feel good or not. Only you know how much sleep you need, what kinds of food you should eat, and how much and what type of exercise you need.
When you ignore your inner voice and give your power away to others, confusion sets in.
It’s easy to get caught up in the hype. If you are struggling with your weight, for example, it’s difficult not to get swept up in the hysteria and think that every new idea that comes along is going to be the answer to all of your problems.
By now you know it usually doesn’t work.
My suggestion is simple. Pay attention to the voice within. Notice what makes you feel good and what doesn’t and start to eliminate the troublemakers. Sometimes you have to minimize the number of variables you are facing in a day in order to ferret out what causes you grief.
Here are five steps to take to learn what works for you:
- Pay attention Spend a few days writing down what you eat, how much sleep you get, and what exercises you do. Try to make this as detailed as possible. It will come in handy later when you start to figure out why you may be having issues.
- Record how you feel Be honest with this. You will be surprised to find out that a lot of your favourite foods are okay, and sometimes it’s just one or two things that are causing you problems. Don’t feel that you’re going to have to give up everything that you enjoy. That’s just not true.
- Don’t kid yourself You need to move around. Find an exercise that you enjoy, and remember that sometimes just walking is good enough. It doesn’t have to be 100% effort every day. Make it something that you will stick with and the consistency will make the difference.
- Take it easy on yourself We all have days where things just aren’t going our way. Don’t get caught up in it and think that everything is against you. Step back, see what you can learn from the situation, and stay positive. Remember, everything is temporary, both the good and the bad.
- Focus on what you want You deserve to have a life filled with health, enjoyment, and peace. Minimizing the amount of drama you allow into your life every day will drastically improve every aspect of your health. Remember again – everything is temporary.
Above all, don’t take yourself so seriously. We are not on this journey for eternity. In the grand scheme of things, our time here is short and we should treat each day as precious.
Be good to you, and be good to everyone around you. A peaceful life is the best life there is.
