Want to lose weight and have tons of energy and feel amazing? Then you need to figure it out for yourself. No one else can tell you what to do.
I learned a long time ago that advice tends to fall flat. I can tell someone the exact steps to take to get into a healthier place, and they might try it for a while, but then they stop and go back to whatever they were doing in the first place. It’s just the way it is.
Until you are ready to make a change, it doesn’t matter what you read, who you listen to or what attempts you make to improve yourself. Real change won’t happen until you make a decision that there are no longer any other options for you.
People can actually resent advice. Even if they ask for it, they still resent it when they get it. When told that they can’t continue the behaviours that got them to the point they are now, they might intellectually agree to do better but it doesn’t last. Old habits die hard.
Once you make a decision though, things can happen quite easily and rather quickly too. To make lasting changes, you need to get to the place where the desire to change is stronger than the desire to stay the same.
Change your beliefs and you can change your life in an instant. It really is that simple. Stop making excuses and do the thing you want to do the most.
Unfortunately, the biggest motivator is usually a health scare. When something happens that threatens our very existence, it can be enough to get us to make big changes in an instant. This works, but it would be better to get to that point without needing multiple alarm bells to sound.
If you have the ability to change your lifestyle when you are forced to change, then you also have the ability to change right now.
Make new behaviours easy to accomplish. The feeling of getting something done is a big motivator. Commit to something small as a first step, then go from there.
Mostly, stop listening to anyone else. Even reading these words is a form of someone appearing to tell you what to do, and that often builds resistance. None of us likes to be told what to do, or how to behave, or what to eat. Figure it out for yourself.
You aren’t going to listen anyways, but this is a good place to start. If it’s your health that concerns you, then there are steps you can take to make it easy to accomplish your goals.
Find an activity that you can fit into your life, whether it is walking more or taking a class at the gym or just doing jumping jacks during commercials of whatever you are watching on TV. Move around more, and you will find that your sleep will improve and you will feel better about yourself.
Eat things that are alive. At least do that. If you can focus on eating fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds throughout the day, your body will have a fighting chance to keep you healthy. Find something you enjoy that is actually good for you and then eat it.
Mostly, use your own intelligence to figure this stuff out. I can tell you what I do, but I’m not you. Only you know what you can tolerate and what you will actually stick with. If you don’t care, then don’t do it. But if the day comes when you are scared into making some changes, then figure it out for yourself.
No one can, or wants, to do it for you. Take responsibility at least for yourself.
